The bizarre pieces were mostly created without stamps and brands in the 1960s and 1970s and exclusively in West Germany. A serial code is all you sometimes find. Her name: Fat Lava Ceramics is not a of an art-historical style, but the neologism of net surfers – an E-Bay search term. It designates not only the vessels with the black enamel glaze, which is applied and heated with a Bunsen burner until bubbles form, but also the entire range of West German industrial ceramics from the unusually productive period.
