Handpainted Botanical Plates- Set of Eight

This is a set of eight 7.5″ botanical plates. These were each handpainted and signed by a single artist, m. Mildred m. Painting on porcelain plates was once considered a “quite acceptable” form of artwork for a lady of means and social status in times when a woman would otherwise not be allowed to create art. A woman would have had such pieces displayed on her walls or given as gifts. I have other pieces by the same artist but those are signed and dated with the years ’84- ’98- no century specified, but I’m selecting 20th century. Attempting to identify the artist has proved fruitless. Without knowing for sure whether the glazes used are lead proof, I would be extremely hesitant to eat off them. The flowers shown include poppies, roses, dogwood, clematis, vinca, honeysuckle, violas, and violets, If I am correct. These belong on display, preferably a wall.
