A Dutch delft Porceleyne Fles tile delft , Mill “De Roos” , after L. Senf, 1906 A delft Porceleyne Fles tile of 15 cm high, 21 cm wide in a wooden frame. Image represents the Mill “De Roos” and was painted by the delft porcelain painter J,W. Lispet, worked from 1887-1938, after Leon Senf and the tile dated 1906 Marked with the stamp of delft Porceleyne Fles and also with impressed stamp of Vennootschap onder Firma Joost Thooft & Labouchère delft 1903 – 1919, after 1919 it became N.V. Koninklijke Delftsch Aardewerkfabriek De Porceleyne Fles v/h Joost Thooft en Labouchere The measurements framed are 23 cm high, 29 cm wide and the depth is 3 cm The weight is 834 gram Leon Senf (1860-1940) Leon Senf took drawing lessons at the Polytechnic School in delft , where Jan Toorop was a fellow student. He also attended drawing evenings in Pulchri Studio where he met G.H. Breitner and Suze Robertson. Until 1930 Senf worked at the painting rooms of De Porceleyne Fles. He designed tile panels, pottery and decors here. Senf was also an independent artist. He produced drawings and graphics. The theme “labor” was central to his drawings. He lived and worked in Noordwijk and Voorburg. His work is represented in, among others, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
