Contemporary Design
Dual functions as an extension of the environment, acting as an important detail of how one presents themselves and welcomes others. Looking into other cultures and customs the designer observed a Japanese rule regarding good manners which says it is impolite to pour one’s own drink – instead one should pour the drink of their companion, and vice versa. This beautiful gesture is captured here, where the carafe shape allows for a double directional pouring action – for serving and being served. The glasses, following the same formal language as the carafe, are asymmetric and always look different from each other based on their perspective, but the top is round for a convenient drinking experience. The set is complete with a small zinc plated tray, big enough for two glasses and a carafe.
