Mantel set in regula on a marble base, composed of a clock surmounted by a large statue illustrating Neptune and two vases depicting fishermen surrounded by waves and sea birds.
Signed Louis (1855-1919) and François (1857-1930) Moreau, the main work represents the God of the Seas carrying his trident standing on his Chariot, pulled by sea horses. The lower part has a working clock with a key, with a dial painted with floral motifs and the Chevassu mark “Lorient-Brest-Nantes”. A plate is fixed on the base where the following mention appears : ” Neptune par L.& F. Moreau, Mlle d’Or “.
On each vase, a whaler seems to struggle against the elements in order to carry out his mission.
