Marvelous Blue and White Painted 18 Century Louis XV Semainier

It was our good luck recently to purchase this marvelous blue and white painted 18th century Louis XV semainier or lingerie chest. It comes from the most tasteful local collection of an old friend. The layered surface is an intriguing blend of blue and white tones fitted with gilt bronze escutcheons and leafage mounts. The façade is concave with conforming carved drawers below a molded edge top. Each drawer has carved panels outlined in white. All is above well scaled cabriole legs. This form is hard to find and doubly difficult to acquire in a painted surface. Blue as you may agree, is a most desirable tone for this piece.
